RULES & INFORMATION

All District and State tournaments are double elimination.

We will follow National Federation rules.

All weigh ins for District and State will be conducted with wrestlers wearing their singlet or both their shirt and shorts. They will not be permitted to remove the items to make weight.

Championship matches are three (3) one and one half (1-1/2) minute periods. Consolation matches are three (3) one (1) minute periods. (Choice of position at end of period).

Free-Style singlet’s are illegal for all OAC District and State Tournaments. These are the low cut under the arm singlet’s

Only two coaches allowed per wrestler during the match. Coach must have a coaching band to be in the coaching chairs in his/her wrestlers corner.

District coaching bands $5.00. You must purchase a coaching band to have access to the floor area when your wrestler is on deck/wrestling. Two coaches per wrestler only. The coaching band DOES NOT include admission to event.

For State Only: Coaching from the side of the mat is illegal. Coaching is to be done from the chairs provided. There are only 2 coaches permitted for each wrestler. Anyone coaching from the side of the mat will be warned for the first infraction. A second infraction will result in a 1-point match penalty. Any further infractions will result in 1-point penalty, removal of offending coach’s coaching band, and possible removal of the offending coach from the building.

Headgears are Mandatory.

Videotaping is allowed only from the coaching chair, bleachers or designated video area. If from the coaching chair they must have a coaching band and are considered as one of the two coaches allowed in their wrestler's corner.

Eligibility: When there is a challenge, the challenging party must pay a challenge fee of $25.00 to the tournament director before any challenge is heard.  If the challenge stands, the fee is returned.  If the challenge is ruled against the challenging party, the fee remains the district tournaments.

Any un-sportsmanlike conduct by a person present at an OAC event may result in a penalty up to and including a one-year ban from any OAC event. If the un-sportsman act is by a coach, parent, family member or anyone connected to a particular wrestler, the ban could also include the wrestler.

After the one year ban the person(s) in violation must request in writing to be reinstated before they would be permitted back in any OAC event. A second offense could result in a lifetime ban from any OAC event.

Doctor’s skin note (click here) needed if questioned.

An official will issue a warning to any coach who is out of line or who acts inappropriate. The band will then be black marked. Any further inappropriate action will cause for removal of band and coaching privileges for the remainder of the tournament.
